J. Thomas Trent, Jr., is a partner in the Nashville office of the law firm of Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP, a 1979 graduate of Vanderbilt University School of Law as the Elliott E. Cheatham Scholar, and a 1976 graduate of Wabash College, Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa.

Mr. Trent is Chair of the firm's Economic Development and Incentive Industry Team, and is a member of the firm's real estate work group. Mr. Trent has extensive experience in the area of economic development, including industrial development financing, payment in lieu of tax agreements and tax increment financing economic incentive transactions, and complex commercial real estate, finance, leasing and construction contracts.

He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America®, for over 10 years, and is listed in that publication under both Commercial Real Estate and under Economic Development, and was named "Lawyer of the Year," Nashville, Real Estate for 2010. He was named to the "CRE 50" in the current issue of Nashville Post Magazine, as one of the 50 most influential people in the Nashville commercial real estate industry.

He is listed in Chambers USA: America's Leading Business Lawyers® (Real Estate, first tier), Mid-South "Super Lawyers & Rising Stars" magazine as one of the leading lawyers in Tennessee (Real Estate), "Best of the Bar"(Real Estate)" for 2011 (and several prior years) by the Nashville Business Journal, he was named a member of the "Lawdragon 3000" for 2010 by Lawdragon Leading Lawyers in America and "Heavy Hitters in Real Estate" by the Nashville Business Journal. He is a Fellow in the American College of Mortgage Attorneys and is a member of The Tennessee Economic Development Council.

Mr. Trent is a current member of the Transit Alliance of Middle Tennessee, the Regional Transportation Authority, the Partnership 2020 Green Jobs Task Force (2010-11) and was the chair of the Nashville Area Partnership 2010 Policy and Incentives Taskforce that addressed the use of economic incentives to attract and retain business (2007).
