Oak Ridge Energy Corridor
Gary Gilmartin is the Executive Director for the Oak Ridge Energy Corridor. He is working with community public and private parties in conjunction with Community Re-Use Organization of East Tennessee (CROET) to develop a pilot energy park in East Tennessee. A key part of the initiative is making land and property available using cleanup funds to provide research and manufacturing facilities that can help solve national energy challenges. He has more than 27 years of nuclear plant operations, construction and strategic weapons programs experience.
Previously, Gilmartin worked at the Y-12 National Security Complex where he was responsible for the growth of complementary work missions in conjunction with Oak Ridge National Lab. His other assignments at Y-12 included Quality Engineering Manager where he had programmatic responsibility for the site QA program as well as major construction efforts. He currently serves on the Engineering and Procurement Subcommittee of the ASME standard for Nuclear Quality Assurance (NAQ-1). Before joining Y-12, Gilmartin served as a product line manager for Diamond Power International, a subsidiary of the B&W Corporation. Gilmartin managed research, design and implementation of boiler optimization equipment.
Prior to work in the commercial sector, Gilmartin served 20 years in the Naval Nuclear Power Program. He retired as a Lieutenant Commander, qualified for command of a Trident Nuclear Submarine. His tours included the USS Pennsylvania construction and commissioning. USS Tennessee, Strategic Weapons and Operations Officer at the Naval Reactors Facility S5G Prototype in Idaho Falls, ID.
Gilmartin holds a Masters in Business Administration from Brenau University and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
