Nuclear Company – Radiant

Radiant, the company pioneering the world's first mass-produced nuclear generator (microreactor), will build its first factory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee on land that encompasses portions of the historic K-27 and K-29 Manhattan Project sites. Construction will begin in early 2026 keeping Radiant on track to deliver its first mass-produced Kaleidos nuclear generator by 2028, and, within a few years, scale up production to 50 reactors per year. In recognition of this ambitious mission, and to honor the site's heritage, Radiant plans to name their new factory R-50.

Radiant’s technology centers on a compact 1-megawatt “reactor-in-a-box” systems are designed for a five-year operating cycle between refueling and can replace approximately 1,200 gallons of diesel per day. The project represents a $280 million initial capital investment and is expected to create up to 175 jobs in the region, supported by Oak Ridge’s strong nuclear workforce, regulatory certainty, and nuclear heritage.
